Moms need Photos too

If you are a mom, then it is instinct to put everyone else first. It may not be on purpose, but it happens. If I look at the gallery in my phone this absolutely shows.

All of my photos, in between the screenshots complements of my 1 year old, are of my children. When is the last time you had photos of just yourself? I was asked recently for a photo of myself and I got lucky because I had just done a photo shoot just for me.
Now you might be asking why I would have had a photo shoot done. The truth is I normally wouldn’t. I would have just dug through my phone for that 10 year old selfie that didn’t have my kids in it. With the way the last few years went and a recent milestone birthday I talked myself out of it over and over until I finally just went for it. Let me tell you what I learned.
As some one who does almost nothing for myself this photo shoot was a splurge. I got my nails done and also had my hair and makeup done professionally. I bought 2 new dresses and dug out my best shoes. I went all out and I felt silly about doing so. Then we started the photo shoot and I felt glamorous and sexy. It was so much fun.

It reminded me how hard I work and how little time I spend taking care of myself. And while it was a huge splurge that I could easily talk myself out of, it was totally worth it. Looking back I wish i would have done it sooner. I have pictures I love and it helped with how I look at my body after 2 kids and 3 surgeries. I love the results, but the experience is one that I feel everyone should have. So much so I made it my mission to convince my sister-in-law that it was her turn and the results are stunning as you can see.
If you are that mom that works herself to the bone for everyone else and rarely treats herself, then this is something you need. Don’t think about it. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Don’t let anyone discourage you. It is 100% worth it. Moms are special! Don’t forget to capture that along the way. Your kids will thank you later!
